We're happy to tell you that Comet has a new furever home. Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
We adopted Comet on December 19, 2017. We found her on Petfinder and adored her sweet face and gorgeous locks. Although she was very anxious and withdrawn upon arrival, she joined us, and her new 2-year old brother Benji, on the bed to sleep that night and has every night since! Although still rather scared and anxious at times, she is quickly learning every day that she is safe and loved here. She has become playful, loving, comfortable, and she follows us every step we take throughout the day. She began wagging her tail in February. She even became very attached to her ‘grandmother’ while her ‘parents’ went on vacation this summer, and sat in her lap daily. She has been dubbed, “The Empress” for her modest and proper behavior and her tendency to lie down on the highest point on the couch in order to watch over everything and everyone in the room. She sleeps between our heads at the top of our bed on her favorite blanket (which her grandmother gave her), where she loves to cuddle with her mom. Her favorite treats are sweet potato and egg! She loves to chase her dad around the yard and whimpers with glee whenever he comes home. She will ask for love by bowing her head for pets or will flop herself onto the ground and show her funny, little belly. She constantly smiles now, compared to the “Charlie Brown Frown” she used to show. She loves to give kisses. She hates car rides, but luckily Benji will sit on her to offer comfort, which appears to work. Comet brings us joy every day! We love our little lady and always will. Casey, Josh, Benji, & Comet

Lizzie’s Story
It took some time for her to trust hands and laps, but she is now a loving, happy little lady and a very important part of our family. Believe it or not, she has inspired us to persevere through tough times. It may seem crazy that this fluffy little chihuahua taught us about strength and grit, but we learned that if this little dog could hang in there until she got a chance to live her best life, surely we can make it through a tough day or two.
