A little over a year ago, 2 weeks after I had my daughter, we lost our sheltie/cocker spaniel mix Oliver to brain cancer. We were heartbroken since Oliver was an amazing dog and he would have been so good with our little girl. We still had our sheltie Barley and he loved the baby but we could tell he was lonely and needed a buddy. We told ourselves we would start looking in a year for another dog.
Fast forward to January 2018, I was bored one night and decided to look on Petfinder for dogs in the area who were good with kids, other dogs and cats as we also have a cat named Minx. When I saw Rosie's picture (Betty Cocker on Petfinder), I had to read more about her. She seemed perfect. We decided to wait since I had just started a new job and my husband was 6 months into a new job as well.
About a week or 2 later I looked on Petfinder again. Rosie was still available. I felt I needed to inquire about her. Jody, her foster mom contacted me the next day and gave me the low down on her partial blindness and how she interacted with her animals. I filled out an application right after that and I set up a visit at Jody's house. We brought our daughter to the visit and instantly fell in love with this beautiful dog. She was so lovable and cuddly and very gentle with our little girl.
We then set up a home visit so we could see how Rosie was with our dog Barley and the cat Minx. Things went great and Rosie has been part of our family ever since. Barley is also much happier now that he has a buddy. Rosie also loves my daughter and it makes me so happy to see them together.
