We planned to adopt a second dog in the Fall of 2019 as a companion for our Toy Manchester Terrier, Biscuit (and us, of course!). That whole timeline changed when we saw Opie on Petfinder.com in late spring. After a trip to Lancaster, PA to visit with Opie and his wonderful foster mom, Chris, who shared that he was living in a shed when she rescued him, we knew he would be our next pup. Opie and Biscuit gravitated to each other on our initial meet and greet and by the beginning of June, we were making the trek back from Lancaster, PA to Northern VA with Opie in tow!
Opie fit right in/made himself right at home almost immediately....it took Biscuit a bit more time to adjust to a new pup in the house, but he had been an only child for 5 years! Now they're great and hang out everyday in our guest bedroom perched at the window barking at anyone or any dog that goes by, in true terrier style. Opie is our fearless, non-stop kiss giver, grasshopper chasing, sun-loving little buddy. While he still doesn't love his harness, he's much better about putting it on and loves walking on the trails around our neighborhood, constantly looking for a squirrel to go after! We couldn't be more smitten with him and are so grateful to the wonderful volunteers at A Tail to Tell Rescue for the work they do to rescue these wonderful animals.
